The fifth and final season finds the gang struggling with the biggest issues of their lives. Having put their relatively carefree days at West Beverly behind them and launched themselves into adulthood, they search for answers to their trials and tribulations with only their friendships to lean on. Naomi and Max, who plan to elope in Vegas, run into trouble along the way. After their car breaks down in the middle of the desert, they land in jail after they hitchhike a ride with a fugitive and armed robber. Elsewhere in Las Vegas, Adrianna continues her country music tour where she hooks up with a handsome stranger named Taylor, unaware that Dixon has been in a life-threatening car accident and is in a coma back in Los Angeles.
As Max struggles with his business, Naomi decides to throw a wedding reception. Silver is desperate to have a child after discovering she possesses a gene that makes her predisposed to cancer. Former BFF and sperm donor Teddy forced her to use a surrogate after she angered him by forging his signature on a consent form. With some coaxing from Teddy, Silver agrees to let his boyfriend’s sister, Michaela, carry their child. Meanwhile, Adrianna does some soul searching while facing charges over an intentional wardrobe malfunction she carried out during a concert in a bid to get out of a contract with Dixon, her ex-boyfriend music producer. Despite Adrianna’s antics to get out of her contract, Dixon luckily discovers a new aspiring singer — who happens to be the future surrogate of Silver. Liam is the target of a kidnapping by a crazed female fan that pretended to be his bodyguard. After almost being shipped in a crate to southern Mexico, and probably also due to a past toxic relationship with his manager, Liam is suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Liam’s ex-fiancée, Annie, wrote a book based on her past experience as a prostitute and her love life. She is also still into Liam, who is featured prominently in the novel. In the end, the two cannot stay apart and Liam proposes to Annie again. Naomi spreads the word to the rest of the gang as they continue on their life paths.
