Season 17 has drawn to a close and Amber Riley and Derek Hough came out on top! 11 fierce weeks and 19 dances brought the duo to the forefront. On her win, Amber said: “I want to let women of all sizes out there to know you can do whatever you put your mind to, it doesn’t matter what size you are, what color you are,” which is a great sentiment, indeed. This win brings Derek to the top of the pro board, as he’s now a five-time champion and the first with back-to-back wins. Corbin and Karina placed second and were ever-gracious. Jack and Cheryl placed third, but Cheryl gave Jack a mirror ball of his own for being the best partner, so he came away a winner in his own right. The dances were exciting as they were of a fusion variety. Each of the top three could have won, but in the end the judges were taken with the ease of Amber and Derek’s movement. We saw familiar faces including Snooki, Elizabeth Berkeley and Valerie Harper — all crowd favorites in their own right. Keep your eyes out for the announcement of next season’s contestants.
