More Beauty and The Beast coming your way! Disney+ announced the upcoming limited musical series on the 30th anniversary of the classic. Can’t get better timing than that!
The musical series will be a prequel of the 2017 live-action remake of Beauty and The Beast. It will have eight episodes and there are some actors coming on the show that arent new to the fans while others will be newcomers to the franchise. Reprising their roles as the self-centered bigot Gaston and his obsessed snide Lefou are none other than Luke Evans and Josh Gad. Newcomer to the show is Brianna Middleton (acted in “The Tender Bar”) who will be playing Lefou’s stepsister Tilly. It will be great to see some new characters and faces.
The crew that executive-produced, directed, and written are the amazingly talented Josh Gad, Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz, and Tony award nominated Liesl Tommy. The series’s soundtrack will be original from EGOT Award-winning composer Alan Menken, who is also working on the show as an executive producer. This series is going to be creative, entertaining, and wonderfully produced since each member listed has got the skill to back it up. Such a diverse and creative team is working on the series!
As for the plot of the musical series, like mentioned earlier it is set pre-Beauty and The Beast. The series will be centered around Gaston and Lefou as they travel with Lefou’ stepsister, Tilly after some strange and surprising events from her past come to light. This journey will send them into romance, encounter an epic adventure, and tickle a few funny bones. We’re going on an adventure!
President and creative chief officer of Disney Branded Television, Gary Marsh states: “For anyone who’s ever wondered how a brute like Gaston and a goof like LeFou could have ever become friends and partners, or how a mythical enchantress came to cast that fateful spell on the prince-turned-beast, this series will finally provide those answers…and provoke a whole new set of questions.” So, the fans will finally get the answers they have been looking for. This is well deserved since they have been waiting for 30 years!
