In autumn of 2003, two unknown hit men killed 19-year-old Catherine Chandler’s mother Vanessa; those men chased Catherine into the woods to kill her, too, where a mysterious humanoid beast saved her. In 2012, Catherine, now a successful New York police detective, is still haunted by memories of the mysterious beast that saved her as well as her mother’s unsolved murder. “Cat” and her detective partner Tess are investigating the murder of fashion editor, Ashley Webster, in a hotel. During the search, she finds fingerprints of deceased doctor Vincent Keller on the corpse. She learns that Keller was only helping Webster, whose death was the result of a previous poisoning. Ashley’s husband Alex had been cheating on her and one of his mistresses had actually killed Ashley. Cat runs into Vincent as he again saves her during an attack by men hired to kill her. Later, Cat investigates the murder of a judge after Vincent tells her the person they arrested is innocent. After Vincent revives a teenager, Cat discovers the boy has a history of bone fractures and investigates. Although Cat appreciates the help Vincent is giving her, it doesn’t come without consequences. Silverfox and his agents make Cat an offer to trade Vincent in exchange for information about her mother’s death.
As Cat works with Vincent, they grow closer to one another. Now that they’re finally taking their relationship to a new level, Cat and Vincent are forced to deal with reality when someone appears to be framing Vincent. Cat is forced to tell the truth about what she has been keeping from Tess to save their relationship, and to protect Vincent. Meanwhile, Gabe, an assistant district attorney, is growing suspicious of everyone in the department, especially Cat. With Gabe desperately trying to find answers, Vincent stares his demise in the face. A secret about Cat’s family makes her question her entire past. Check out the second season to find out what happens to Cat and Vincent. Will they ever get to be together like they truly want?
