Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

The wheels of production have been set in motion for the book to screen adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ hit novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Currently, the film is set for a March 2016 release date, after being pushed back from July 2015. Few other details are currently available, although it is known that Eva Green (The Golden Compass, Dark Shadows) will star as Miss Peregrine, the screenplay is being penned by X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Jane Goldman, and the legendary Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands) will direct. Asa Butterfield (Hugo, Ender’s Game) is rumored to play the lead role, Jacob.

Abe has filled Jacob’s head with stories about an orphanage that houses “gifted” young children, or “peculiars,” and the ravenous “hollows” who feed on these peculiars. When Jacob arrives at the abandoned orphanage, he discovers that all of his grandfather’s stories were true.

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children is a fantastic work of fiction, a sort of Hogwarts meets Professor Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters. Fans of tales about misfits who band together to defeat an unstoppable foe will undoubtedly love this story. We’re very pleased it will be hitting the big screen, and we’re even more pleased that Asa Butterfield might be taking on the lead role. We’d love to see him matched up with either his Ender’s Game co-star Hailee Steinfeld, or his Hugo co-star Chloe Grace Moretz. We’ll be on the lookout for more news about this exciting upcoming project!
