Brandy and Rita Ora to Star in The Disney+ Film the Pocket Watch | Find out about the latest installment in The Descendants franchise

Yes, YEM readers, dreams really do come true! Disney+ just announced that they are planning to release another installment in The Descendant’s film canon. This time around, their newest film, titled “The Pocket watch”, to be exclusively aired on Disney+, will be filled with much more music, fantasy, drama, and comedy than ever before!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, The Descendants have been a popular Disney film franchise for several years. It has unfurled a creative mythology of two lands: pristine Auradon and the ramshackle Isle of the Lost, the latter of which is home to the teenage offspring of Disney’s most famous characters, including, most notably, its most infamous villains. The “Pocket watch’s” daring new tale revisits these regions while also transporting viewers down the rabbit hole to Wonderland’s dangerous, unincorporated territory, a mystical and enigmatic locale made famous by Alice in Wonderland.

In the upcoming Disney+ original film “The Pocket watch”, set in The Descendants universe, legendary R&B singer and actress Brandy is set to reprise her role as Cinderella. Brandy was the first Black actress to portray Cinderella in the 1997 television adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical. She became instantly recognizable, and the film has gained a devoted following among millions of viewers all over the world.

In addition to Brandy’s casting, famed pop singer and former X-Factor judge Rita Ora will appear as the withholding, despotic Queen of Hearts, who reigns over Wonderland with a steely determination.

Pocket watch” story takes place in the mystical isle of the Lost and Auradon. These places are where famous Disney characters’ preteen and teen offspring reside in the Descendants films and are once again visited. In the new film, “polar opposites,” Red and Chloe are shown coming together as an Auradon celebration turns chaotic. The two must work together to use the Mad Hatter’s son’s magical pocket watch to travel back in time to avert a coup by stopping an incident that would have serious repercussions. 

In addition to Brandy and Rita Ora, also starring in the film are the following actors and actresses. Read below to find out more about their intriguing characters in “The Pocket watch” along with their character synopsis:

Red, the disobedient 16-year-old daughter of the Queen of Hearts, will be played be Kylie Cantrall.

Red finds methods to irritate her mother and cause trouble because she is aware that she will never win the Queen’s favor.

While Chloe, to be played by Malia Baker, is a bright, athletic, and book smart 16-year-old daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, she is somewhat clueless about the realities of the outside world due to her wealth. 

China Anne McClain will reprise her role from Descendants 2 and 3 as Uma, the infamous sea-witch Ursula’s daughter. Uma is tenacious and aggressive, always standing up for what she believes to be correct.

Ulyana, Ursula’s younger sister, is Reneé. She is an eight-vile tentacled teenage sea witch. She bully’s’ others alongside her band of lackeys.

Ruby Rose Turner is set to play Bridget/Young Queen of Hearts, who is kind-hearted, energetic, and generous—precisely the reverse of who she is as an adult.

Morgan Dudley will play Ella/Young Cinderella. She is described as blunt, pragmatic, and has a chip on her shoulder about being forced to work for her wicked stepmother.

Joshua Colley will portray Hook, a wealthy young man with a sparkling hook in place of his left hand and one of Ulyana’s sycophants. Only his vanity surpasses his haughtiness.

As Fairy Godmother, the sage and kind headmistress of Auradon Prep, Melanie Paxson will make her comeback.

The director and co-executive producer will be Jennifer Phang who has directed such films as “Advantageous”, “Half-Life”, “Foundation” and The Flight Attendant.

Mark Hofeling, a production designer, will be returning to the series. He has worked on the Descendants films, “Zombies” and “High School Musical”.

Alexis Frank Koczara and Christine Smith Shevchenko are the casting directors, and Gary Marsh and Suzanne Todd (Noelle) are the executive producers (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers).

“The Pocket watch” is set to film in early 2023. The air date has yet to be officially announced.
