A new fun slasher movie, Buzzkill, is set to release on Tubi on September 25th and we chatted exclusively with stars of the film Brec Bassinger and Aliyah’s Interlude to learn more.
Buzzkill follows a masked killer who traps a group of sorority sisters. Nora, played by Siena Agudong, holds the clues to the murderer’s identity, but she can only unlock her hazy memories when she is drunk.
You may recognize Brec from her leading role in Nickelodeon’s Bella and the Bulldogs, and starring in the horror films 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and Final Destination Bloodlines.
Aliyah is also starring in her first major project and is known for her hit rap song “It Girl.”
Aaliyah: “The cast and crew made it extremely easy to adjust for a slasher film.”
Brec is a rising scream queen in her own right, and although Aliyah is fairly new to the acting world, they both said they had so much fun doing a slasher film, with Aliyah revealing that she actually loved the night shoots!
Aaliyah: “As you act and go farther in the process, you understand your character more and more.”
Brec said she loves to watch past films and find characters that she can relate to when preparing for a new character, and she loves how fun the horror genre is.
Brett: “I definitely like to find some characters from prior films that align with certain attributes of my character.”
Brec said the entire cast and crew, especially Siena and Aliyah, were so positive on set, and this project made her feel lucky to be an actor. Aliyah said she learned how important it is to give 100% of yourself everyday on set, even through those harder moments.
Brett: “As an actor there are so many creatively stimulating elements of horror movies.”
Buzzkill has such a fun plot and Brec said she loves how fun the movie is, as it doesn’t take itself seriously in the best way.
