Sound familiar? This is how the judges of America’s The X Factor described Carly Rose Sonenclar after her now-famous audition back in season 2 in 2012. The then 13 year old Carly performed Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” to a lot of dropped jaws, and in under 24 hours her performance was viewed by millions making Carly a literal overnight sensation. Since scoring the runner-up position on X Factor, Carly has been performing, writing, and recording original music, all while perfecting her unique sound and developing her songwriting chops in the studio. While she’s been in the studio grinding away at perfecting original material, she’s gotten acquainted with some huge names in music…including the dudes from the genre-defying pop sensation Timeflies, a friendship that has now resulted in an epic collaboration between the two acts. Carly tells us how the collab “Runaway” came to be.

“I first ran into the guys outside of a studio about a year and a half ago. We talked about wanting to write together and were finally able to make it happen last summer. ‘Runaway’ was initially going to be one of my songs, but as the guys were working on their new album they asked if they could play around with it and use it on theirs instead. I love how it turned out!” says Carly.
