If you’ve ever wanted a podcast to learn from the stars and get BTS moments from your favorite shows and movies, you’ve come to the right place!

We also shared some BTS footage from our interview with the cast of The Runarounds, which is out now on Prime Video. The real life band was created by Outer Banks creator Jonas Pate, as they focus on their journey of achieving success in the music industry. The interview spoke to the importance of chemistry and casting the right people.

Speaking of casting, this episode dives into the world of casting directors. Many think that getting an acting agent is the only way to make a name for yourself, but there are so many other ways to get noticed.

Daniella: “One incredible way to get into TV and film is to focus on casting and casting directors.”

Daniella has done it herself, and she says finding casting director workshops in your area is such a great way to showcase talent. All you need is to come prepared with a headshot, resume, and a scene prepared, and for many young actors, the rest could be history. Young Entertainment also will be posting open casting calls on our socials so make sure to follow us on Instagram

Daniella: “What you want to bring to a casting director workshop is a headshot, resume, and scene prepared.”

There are also casting websites you need to follow, including Backstage and Casting Networks to find projects you can audition for. Daniella is proof that these websites work, as her current agent found her through Casting Networks!

Daniella: “Be yourself and put it all out there, and of course be kind and friendly, I think people underestimate that. At the end of the day, they are just humans you are auditioning for.”

It is also important to know it is okay to be nervous! Even the greatest castings, like Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries and Hilary Duff from A Cinderella Story, have revealed they were nervous for their auditions. It is most important to be yourself and be prepared.

Daniella: “The entertainment industry is a business. You need to conduct yourself in a way that is professional.”

Mordechai and Daniella also talk through some of their favorite castings ever, with Mordechai naming Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blond, Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls, and Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, as perfect castings.

Mordechai: “I think Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde was a really good casting.”

Consider this:

  • There may be other people who can bring to the table what you can, but nobody can bring the same energy and your same authentic self. Don’t try and be someone you’re not!
  • In acting, a button is a distinct line, action, or expression added to the end of a scene to create a memorable finish and leave a lasting impression on a casting director.
  • Knowing how to slate in an audition is incredibly important. A slate often includes your name, height, agency, and character you are auditioning for. Practice so you can slate with confidence!
