In episode 35 of The Young Entertainment Podcast, hosts Mordechai and Daniella dive into both the Upside Down and Yellow Brick Road in anticipation of the final season of Stranger Things and the upcoming release of Wicked: For Good. We also show you a never before seen exclusive interview with cast members of the new HBO MAX series IT: Welcome to Derry.
If you’ve ever wanted a podcast to learn from the stars and get the best masterclass tips and tricks for launching your own career, you’ve come to the right place!
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be released in three different parts, with Volume 1 coming out November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, and the finale on December 31. The season takes place a year after the events of season 4 as the group seeks to find and kill Vecna.
Wicked: For Good will be released on November 21, years after the events of Wicked, as Elphaba, now known as the Wicked Witch of the West, continues her fight for animal rights while living as a fugitive. Her relationship with Glinda is put to the test, including the surprise arrival of Dorothy of Kansas, that will change the Land of Oz forever.
Mordechai: “Eleven is very powerful and Elphaba is still learning her powers.”
We are so incredibly excited for both magical premieres, and play a bunch of games in anticipation. Mordechai reveals his favorite Stranger Things episode of all time, the best songs in the series, and Daniella talks about her excitement for the costumes and camerawork in Wicked: For Good.
Mordechai: “I listen to songs because I hear them on the show and I’m able to relate back to the show.”
We also draw on our favorite 80s films in honor of Stranger Things and play a game where we guess the quote and plotline and whether it is from Wicked or Stranger Things.
In the spirit of highly anticipated content, Young Entertainment’s own reporter, Lauren Smolka, also had the chance to interview the young stars of It: Welcome to Derry, including Amanda Christine, Blake Cameron James, Arian S. Cartaya, Clara Stack and Matilda Lawler.
Daniella: “The cast of [IT: Welcome to Derry] are so young but they are so wise.”
The series serves as a prequel to the IT films and takes place in 1962, as a couple and their son move to Derry, Maine just as a young boy disappears. With their arrival, very bad things begin to happen in the town.
The cast talked about their experiences filming all together and the fun activities they did off set to build those friendships. The cast also reveals if any part of filming made them scared, the funniest moments behind the scenes, and what it was like to meet Bill Skarsgård, who plays Pennywise. If you haven’t watched the show, what are you waiting for?!
Daniella: “Having a resident acting coach on set sounds like just an incredible experience for those young actors to have.”
If you are also excited for these two anticipated releases, then this episode is for you!
