Fans of the 2003 bestselling book The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and the 2009 film of the same name starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams were treated to yet another adaptation of the story in 2022. Rose Leslie, known for her role in Game of Thrones, and Theo James who played Four in the Divergent series, starred in the television version, which premiered on HBO. For anyone looking to learn more about the show and its cast, we have an exclusive interview with Everleigh McDonell, who plays a young Clare. We talked to Everleigh about her costars, preparing for her character, her hope for future projects, and more, brought to you by Young Entertainment Exclusive.

The show, directed by David Nutter, follows the out-of-order love story between Clare Abshire, played by Rose, and Henry DeTamble, played by Theo, as they navigate a romance amid a problem of time. Henry has a genetic disorder which causes him to time travel for short periods. At just six years old, Clare first meets Henry, the future love of her life. Years later, the pair reconnect and Clare claims to have not only known him all her life but to be his future wife. A magical journey ensues as Henry learns to deal with his condition. The drama series deals with themes of love, loss, marriage, and survival.
Everleigh is an up-and-coming actress who started acting at just three years old. In addition to The Time Traveler’s Wife, she has made appearances in the show Good Girls from 2018 and Truth Be Told from 2019. Everleigh said it has been a surreal experience to see herself acting on television and for The Time Traveler’s Wife, she was able to watch every episode alongside her family. Her mom’s favorite book was The Time Traveler’s Wife which made it all the greater of an experience to be in the show.
We asked Everleigh about working alongside Theo and Rose and she said it was an unforgettable experience as she had seen some of the Divergent series and also watched a few clips from shows Rose was in. She got some tips on serious acting from both of them and was also able to learn how to play young Clare from sitting down with David, the director of the series.
Everleigh said she had to dye her hair red for the role of young Clare, her first time ever doing so. In the audition process, she memorized her lines and got to meet with both the casting director and David before being given the role. The show was filmed in New York and Everleigh said the hardest part was being away from her family for that time but she is now able to celebrate with them. We asked Everleigh about future projects, and she said she would like to do some more serious acting and her dream role would be a cameo in Stranger Things.
