My Fault: London stars Asha Banks and Matthew Broome talk filming both tense and romantic scenes in remake of hit Spanish film Culpa mía

Amazon Prime Video’s most successful international film ever is now heading to England in the new British drama film My Fault: London, available to stream on the platform now! Before the film’s release, we chatted with both Asha Banks and Matthew Broome, who star as Noah and Nick, step-siblings-turned lovers, to learn more about building their chemistry on set and filming both tense and romantic scenes.

My Fault: London is an adaptation of the hit 2023 Spanish-language film My Fault, based on the novel Culpa mía by Mercedes Ron. The film relocates to England as Noah moves from Florida to a mansion in England after her mother marries Nick’s father. Despite their efforts against it, an attraction between Nick and Noah ensues but when Noah’s father is released from prison, she will be forced to deal with her difficult past while falling in love for the first time.

Asha: “I had to read with a few actors coming in for Nick and Matt was the first one and he set the bar immediately.”

Asha and Matthew may already be familiar to you from their recent hit roles. Asha starred as Cara Ward in Netflix’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Matthew plays Guy Thwarte in Apple TV’s The Buccaneers

Asha: “It is that forbidden love aspect that is so entertaining to watch.”

Both Asha and Matthew built up a strong friendship before heading onto set which made filming both those romantic and tense scenes that much more comfortable for both of them. Asha joked they began the filming process with those more romantic scenes which made it so much easier to film those bickering scenes on camera by the end.

Asha: “Our wonderful team made everything feel super comfortable.”

From this interview, it was evident how much fun both Asha and Matthew had with one another on set, and Matthew said Asha was always so on top of everything which made it easier to focus on acting. Asha said she learned to sit in experiences and appreciate every moment on set from Matthew.

Matthew: “[Asha] is so on it in the most inspiring way.”

When you watch the film, stay tuned till the end, as Asha had the best of both worlds with singing and acting, even getting to write an original song “Feel the Rush” for the film’s credits.

Matthew said there were so many “pinch me” moments while filming an action film, including the high speed chase in the movie you’ll just have to see to believe.

Matthew: “You’re on set and you’re like ‘wow, I’m in an action movie,”’

Consider this:

  • Have open and honest conversations with your castmates on set to establish what you are comfortable with. Also don’t be afraid to be vulnerable with them, intimacy coordinators, directors or anyone else about scenes you may be nervous to film.
  • If you are able, reach out to and build relationships with your castmates remotely or virtually before you arrive on set. This will speed up that connection process and help ease the nerves before meeting them the first time.
