Fortunate Finds

Did you discover me hiding

Under a broken sea shell?

With your bright eyes shining

Did you pull me up from where I fell?

Or did I chance upon you waiting

Beneath an old Angel Oak?

Did I lay beside you anticipating

Who you were until you woke?

When our eyes did meet, I knew right away

You’d caught me keeping the world at bay.

You could see through me and so it began

You took my hand and away we ran.

We’d take a journey and we might get lost

But we’d stick together our hearts were crossed.

We’d brave ten foot seas and ninety foot whales

Try many new things, some succeed and some fail.

We would walk with the penguins and glow with the jellies

Eat with the Eskimos until we were full in our bellies.

We’d trek across deserts and slosh through the snow

And when we were tired, let the wind blow us home.

As a cloud carried us off, we’d blow down a kiss

To the world below and all of its gifts.

It was a great adventure and time had flown

But I don’t know where I’d be if I’d braved it alone.
