Frozen is headed to The Great White Way! That’s right, Bob Iger, head of Disney, confirmed yesterday that the film is being adapted for the stage. It’s not yet set when the adaptation will come to life, but hopefully sooner rather than later. Iger did say “We’re not demanding speed…We’re demanding excellence” which indicates a bit of a delay, but excellence is much appreciated over speed, especially with a story as beloved as Frozen. Frozen was a smash box office hit at the end of last year. In fact, it’s Disney’s biggest hit since The Lion King, and has grossed almost 700 million dollars worldwide to date. The movie’s soundtrack also topped charts. This movie especially lends itself to a Broadway adaptation since Book of Mormon co-creator Robert Lopez wrote many of the songs. Additionally, beloved Broadway stars voiced some of the characters. Those actors include Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel and Tony nominees Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Keep your eyes peeled, we’re sure on the lookout for this one!
