Indi Star first gained major recognition for being a part of the children’s pop group KIDZ BOP in 2018 but has since branched out into acting, dancing, social media, and lately, a deep dive into music. She released her newest single, “Hurt A Little” this past September. We have an exclusive interview with Indi to learn more about her journey as a singer and songwriter, her hopes for the future of her music, and more, brought to you by Young Entertainment Exclusive.

Indi is most well known for her role in KIDZ BOP but has also appeared as an actor in the Nickelodeon series Henry Danger, and other television series including Charmers, Dead To Me, Q Wunder, and most recently played Young Vista in the action superhero film The Hyperions.

Indi has also gained fame through her social media channels, with a large following on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. As a social media star, Indi said she doesn’t have a specific posting schedule but likes to promote her music, lifestyle, and fashion.

Indi started singing lessons when she was eight years old and started writing her own music at 13. She has released a number of singles over the past few years, including “Hurt A Little.”

We asked Indi about her process for making music and she said her favorite part of it is the writing process. She does writing camps every few months where she goes into the studio and works with producers to develop melodies and lyrics. Indi said the single “Hurt A Little” has a new sound and is more mature compared to her previous songs as she begins to better understand who she is as a singer and songwriter.

Indi said she hopes people feel a sense of connection while listening to her music and she hopes to keep growing with her sound. We asked Indi about her biggest inspirations and creative influences and she said she gets much of that from her friends and family.

Consider this:

  • There is no specific starting point for getting into the music industry. Just go for it by learning how to write music or learning a new instrument.

  • Writing camps are a gathering of producers and songwriters in a studio for the purpose of talking, inspiring creativity, and writing songs.

  • Don’t limit yourself on social media – post and talk about the things you are interested in.

  • Make friends in the music/entertainment industry who can relate to your journey and can give you advice.

  • Use the Notes app to manage your schedule.
