Jennifer Lynn Alvarez is the author of Lies Like Wildfire. Lies Like Wildfire went on sale for everyone to buy on September 7, 2021. This novel is Jennifer’s first ever thriller book that she has written, and she has another thriller book which is titled Friends Like These coming out in Fall of 2022. Jennifer received her B.A. in English from the University of California at Berkeley. She now lives in Northern California with her husband, three children, and pets.
Lies Like Wildfire is a story about five friends in Gap Mountain, California who all have to keep a secret. The novel is centered around 18 year old Hannah Warner. Hannah is an aspiring FBI agent and is also the daughter of a sheriff. One summer Hannah and her best friends accidentally spark an enormous and deadly wildfire. Their first instinct is to lie to the police and the fire investigators. The fire starts going towards Yosemite National Park, and as her friends start to crack Hannah finds herself going to great lengths to protect their secret.
This book is taken from real life experiences that Jennifer has had with wildfires in California, and she put them into her novel. In 2019 firefighters saved her home during the Kincade Wildfire. Jennifer was able to interview the Fire Battalion Chief to verify the facts against her experience. Lies Like Wildfire offers an accurate depiction of the after-effects of wildfire on a community.
