Lana Condor is coming to our screens again, this time in the form of the highly anticipated live-action, animated film Coyote vs. Acme, out in theaters August 28th! This was the best set Lana has ever been on and she reveals why, including working with Will Forte, and what the Looney Tunes franchise has meant to her.

After decades of his purchased gadgets backfiring during the constant pursuits of the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote hires a human billboard lawyer named Kevin Avery. Together, they file a massive lawsuit against the negligent Acme Corporation facing off against Acme’s corporate attorney to uncover a deeper corporate conspiracy along the way. Will Forte stars as Kevin Avery and Lana’s character Paige is Kevin’s niece. John Cena, Tone Bell, Luis Guzmán also star in the film.

“This was the best set I’ve ever been on.”

We’ve grown up with Lana from her time as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse and as Lara Jean Covey in the To All the Boys film series, and continues to dazzle our screens, including her recent work in XO, Kitty and The Devil’s Mouth.

Coyote vs. Acme holds a special place as a project in Lana’s heart as she revealed her parents were massive fans of the Looney Tunes franchise growing up. When she got the script for Paige, she said Paige immediately reminded her of her own mom, and this film was a special homage to her mom and the bond they had.

“My parents freaked out when I told them it was a Looney Tunes film.”

We also asked Lana about her experience working with the talented Will Forte, who you might recognize from his time on Saturday Night Live, and Lana had high praise for Forte, calling him truly the kindest man in Hollywood. She said Will set the tone from day 1 on set, making sure everyone felt seen and heard, and this became the best set Lana has ever been on.

“I was excited to find our flow with working with Will.”

Because the film is part live action, part animated, Lana revealed the film used a master puppeteer on set and even built a lifestyle Wile E. Coyote to help the actors understand movements and the context of the scene for the animated parts.

“This is a hybrid movie with a lot of different mediums.”

We also take a trip down memory lane to All the Boys, and Lana revealed her favorite memory from filming those movies was one day when she was exhausted, Anna Cathcart, who played Kitty Covey, offered her sushi to her, and they shared a special moment.

“To have Anna Cathcart to be the person to be there for me was really special.”
