We talk with Logan about the audition process for Katie, working with the main cast, and her biggest advice for aspiring actors. If you’ve ever wanted a podcast to learn from the stars and get BTS moments from your favorite shows and movies, you’ve come to the right place!
Logan is a jack of all trades as an actress, singer, screenwriter, director and producer. She primarily comes from a theater background, having played Ilse in Spring Awakening, Celia in As You Like It, and Rona in Spelling Bee.
The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on Han’s third novel, taking place two years after season 2. Belly once again finds herself questioning where her heart lies between Jeremiah and Conrad.
Logan: I’ve always been a fan of Jenny Han so it’s been a dream come true to just be a part of it.”
Logan was already a big Jenny Han and The Summer I Turned Pretty fan before joining the cast, having read the series growing up, and said Jenny was so incredibly involved in the whole filming process. Logan had many firsts on this project, as it was her first gig that wasn’t a short or student film, her first time on a major set, and her first time in a makeup chair!
Logan: “I was so excited, I cried. It was my first actual break into TV and film.”
As she is currently based in North Carolina, Logan revealed that she actually moved to Wilmington, where the show is primarily filmed, after booking the role of Katie! Logan said she loved the charm of the city and is a testament to making a career anywhere, saying “you find a way or you make one.”
Logan: “It was my first actual experience being on a big set and it was more than I could have asked for.”
Logan’s character Katie is part of Taylor and Belly’s volleyball squad. To prep for the role, Logan said she made a playlist and Pinterest board to get into Katie’s headspace, all while living in a coastal town.
Logan: “[These girls] are so full of light and have love for each other. It is the power of girlhood and sticking together. They are there for Belly and Taylor.”
Out of the main cast, Logan worked most closely with Lola and said she was so kind hearted and humble and took the time to talk with literally everyone on set, from the background actors to the crew. She even learned how to mess up lines from Lola, who was so professional in every aspect.
Logan: “[Lola Tung] was so open to talking to everyone on set. She is such a light on set.”
Logan gave such good advice for any aspiring young actors. From learning how to memorize lines to crying on cue and finding an agent, Logan said her best advice is to just start in any way you can as you are right where you are meant to be.
