About the Album: Details have been somewhat scarce about Christina Aguilera’s forthcoming seventh studio album dropping November 9th. Aguilera has been quoted saying “The album will be a culmination of everything I’ve experienced up until this point…. I’ve been through a lot since the release of my last album, being on (‘The Voice’), having had a divorce,” she said. “This is all sort of a free rebirth for me.” “I’m embracing many different things, but it’s all feel-good,” she said of the album’s material, including tracks that are “super-expressive” and fun, with moments that are “super-vulnerable.” “This album is about self-expression and freedom,” Aguilera said in another statement announcing the album. “There is a lot I have gone through personally over the past few years and this record represents a rebirth for me. The record is about freedom and getting back to the root of who I am and what I love to do.” Tracks range from sexy self-empowerment anthems (“Army of Me”), tocollaborations with fellow talent (in this case, The Voice judges Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, respectively) and wrenching ballads (including the Sia-penned “Blank Page,” originally offered to Leona Lewis and later cut by Aguilera).
Track Spotlight: The first single “Your Body” is a return to form and a sort of a kiss off, with Aguilera addressing criticism about her body while emphasizing her pop star sex appeal. |
