Maestro star Alexa Swinton opens up about her routine and what the future holds for her | Fresh Take

Alexa Swinton is a young actor and songwriter on the rise. She currently appears alongside Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan in the new film “Maestro” which chronicles the life of Leonard Bernstein, perhaps the most famous American composer of the 20th century. Alexa plays Bernstein’s daughter Nina and the movie has been taking audiences and critics by storm, receiving a standing ovation at the famous Cannes Film Festival.

”I just found my love in acting and I was so lucky to find it so early.”

Alexa is also known for her role in the ABC prime-time series Emergence, playing Eva Rhaodes in “Billions”, Rock Goldenblatt in “And Just LIke That”. In addition to being an actor, Alexa is also a songwriter and recording artist, and released her first original single in July 2020 called “You, Me and My Purple Docs.” She began acting at a young age, getting her start in theater before making her television debut playing the younger version of the lead character Claire in Starz’s “Flesh and Bone”. Her mother is Inna Swinton, an actress and lawyer, and her sister is Ava Swinton, who is also a singer and musician.

When Young Entertainment spoke with Alexa a few months ago, she told us about her family, her future career goals and managing schoolwork as a young actor. Alexa also said that she gained a lot of inspiration and advice from wanting to be an actor from her mom Inna, who used to be in the theater scene. She is also inspired by her older sister Ava.

“I’ve always seen myself writing, directing, and producing projects of my own that I want to put out into the world exactly how I see them in my brain.”

Alexa confided that she hopes to someday go to Yale, the school that both her parents attended, and to study English Literature with a minor in Art History. She admitted that it can be difficult to be in middle school and manage being an actor who has to be on set but credits her tutors for making her life easier and keeping her on track. At home, she values getting enough sleep and getting ready in the morning with the help of a healthy breakfast of oatmeal and green juice.

Catch Alexa in Maestro at a theater near you or on Netflix starting December 20.

-For young actors, work on a schedule to find time to study and work on school assignments in between scenes while you are on set.
