It would seem that movie casting news for Young Adult Hollywood revolves around just a few hot and very in-demand names, and what a busy bunch they are! But because things change in showbiz faster than it takes them to fast track another young adult series into production, the names on that list are changing all the time. So to that end, we here at YA Mag will undertake the hefty task of keeping you up to date on who’s playing what, who’s hot, and who’s not. The roles and stars everyone can’t stop talking about are all here…

 

matt-smith-pride-and-prejudice-and-zombiesMade famous on Doctor Who, brit actor Matt Smith is the latest addition to the cast of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Smith plays Mr. Collins, joining Lily James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote, and Douglas Booth in the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smoth’s mashup novel. After this, Smith is next set to star in Alan Taylor’s “Terminator: Genesis.”

austin-williams-henry-and-meAustin Williams (Michael Clayton) will voice a lead character in Henry & Me, about a cancer-stricken young Yankees fan who is taken from the hospital by a guardian angel to Yankee Stadium where he meets various legends and learns valuable life lessons.

joey-kingJoey King (the best part of Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here) will appear in Borealis, about a father who takes his rebellious daughter to see the Northern Lights before her vision disorder renders her totally blind.

margaret-qualleyExciting up-and-coming talent Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers, Palo Alto) is in talks to appear in The Nice Guys, a 1970s thriller about a recovering alcoholic and a P.I. who team up to investigate the alleged suicide of a has-been porn star. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling also star.

ryan-guzmanStep Up All In’s Ryan Guzman has been tapped for That’s What I’m Talking About, the unofficial followup to Dazed and Confused. The comedy follows a college freshman in 1980 who moves into the baseball house and gets mixed up with the hard-partying members of the frat. As previously reported, Blake Jenner, Tyler Hoechlin, and Wyatt Russell are also in talks for the project.

cara-delevingne-paper-townsCara Delevingne is being considered to lead Paper Towns, an adaptation of John Green’s novel from the same writers who brought us the Green adaptation The Fault in Our Stars. Towns features a high school student (Nat Wolff) who embarks on a road trip to track down his crush Margot, who has left puzzling clues as to her location.

tom-hiddlestonLoki himself of the Marvel universe, aka Tom Hiddleston, is locked in to star in Skull Island, the King Kong prequel. Universal is prepping this action flick to tell the tale of the legendary giant gorilla during his time on the mysterious and dangerous island before being ‘discovered’.

YA ingénue Brie Larson will star opposite Daniel Radcliffe and Sir Ben Kingsley in the period drama Brooklyn Bridge, about a young engineer (Radcliffe) who is charged with the responsibility of supervising the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge after his father dies. Kingsley will play the engineer’s father, while Larson will play his wife.

zachary-arthur-fifth-waveZackary Arthur has signed on to play Chloe Grace Moretz’s younger brother in The 5th Wave. The sci-fi thriller, based on the book by Rick Yancey, follows one of Earth’s last survivors as she goes on a mission to save her younger brother from evil aliens. Arthur joins Moretz, Liev Schreiber, Nick Robinson, Alex Roe, and Maika Monroe in the film, currently in pre-production.

ben-fosterBen Foster (Lone Survivor) is the latest to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming The Finest Hours. The period film centers around true events, detailing a Coast Guard rescue off of Cape Cod after two oil tanks collide in the blizzard of 1952. Already on board Beau Knapp, Graham McTavish, Casey Affleck, and Chris Pine.

zoey-deutchZoey Deutch joins Divergent’s Ashley Judd in Good Kids, a comedy about four overachievers in New England as they seek to reinvent themselves in the summer after high school. Craig Roberts, David Coussins, Israel Broussard, Jane Levy, and Nicholas Braun also star.

elizabeth-gillies-vacationRaven haired beauty Elizabeth Gillies (Victorious) has been selected to go on a Vacation, the reboot/sequel that revisits the original National Lampoon’s Vacation clan. Chris Hemsworth, Christina Applegate, Charlie Day, and Ed Helms will star.
