The highly anticipated coming-of-age comedy Incoming is finally here. The film hit Netflix on August 23, and before its release, we got to chat with Isabella Ferreira, who stars as Bailey. Isabella told us all about her character, her past roles, her favorite memories on set, and what she hopes people take away from her performance.
SPOILER: Incoming follows four freshmen as they navigate the terrors of adolescence at their first-ever high school party. The night quickly escalates into an unforgettable experience filled with chaos and laughter. The film is the debut feature for Dave and John Chernin, who are also producers on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The comedy boasts a cast list including rising stars like Mason Thames, Ali Gallo, Raphael Alejandro, Bardia Seiri, Ramon Reed, Loren Gray who you may recognize from TikTok, and seasoned actors like Kaitlin Olson and Bobby Cannavale.
Isabella has become a talent to watch, having graced both small and big screens. She played Pilar in the beloved Hulu series Love, Victor and also starred in Hulu’s queer rom-com Crush. You can also see her in recurring roles in Orange is the New Black and in the series Social Distance. While her character Pilar from Love, Victor and her character Bailey from Incoming are very different, she said she loves playing new kinds of characters.
While working on Love, Simon, Isabella worked with the talented Joshua Colley, who we also recently interviewed for his role as Hook in Descendants: The Rise of Red. Isabella praised Joshua for being so genuine and giving it his all in every character he portrays.
“[Joshua Colley] killed it in [Descendants: The Rise of Red] and he absolutely killed it, he is so beyond talented.”
While working on Incoming, Isabella joked that her favorite and also most challenging part of being on set was trying not to laugh. She said the set felt like a big summer camp, filled with hilarious and supportive co-stars.
“This movie is just so fun and everyone had a blast while filming.”
Like many of the talents we interview, Isabella said she likes to create playlists for every character she plays. She also creates a separate playlist for the storylines and overall tone of each film or television show to learn how to act out every emotion.
“Music is definitely a great way to evoke emotions and specifically for me, I create playlists for every character that I play.”
While playing Bailey in this film, Isabella said she had the best time working on such a fun project and hopes people laugh, cry, and relate to Bailey. Above all, Isabella said she hopes that fun shines through in the film and viewers will feel that same excitement that she did.
“I hope that people will feel the fun that I had while portraying [Bailey].”
