Whether it’s for screen adaptations from books or completely original fanfare, teens are obsessed with finding out about the new faces that will bring some of their favorite characters to life as well as light up the big and small screens. Movies and TV shows introduce a whole new slew of characters that will have a lasting impact on the young generation and many young generations to come. Young Adult Magazine reports the latest casting news on both favorite and up and coming young adult movies and TV shows, and sheds the spotlight on the actors tasked with bringing beloved YA characters to the screen.

Movies for young adults

The Insurgent, the highly anticipated sequel to the Divergent film, will be hitting theaters in March 2015. Meanwhile, fans have some movie casting news to feast on while waiting. Keiynan Lonsdale from Dance Academy will play Tris’s Divergent pal Uriah Pedrad. Emjay Anthony will be playing the young Hector, and model Suki Waterhouse will be playing Marlene. Jonny Weston was also cast and will be playing the new character Edgar, who was not in the book.

On superhero movie news, after weeks of rumors and speculation, Jason Momoa was officially cast as Aquaman in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Evangeline Lilly will play Hope Van Dyne in the upcoming Ant-Man film. Teen favorite Goosebumps will be moving from the books to the screen in August 2015, and Jack Black will be playing author R.L. Stine. Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will both be seen next in Star Wars Episode VII when it comes out December 2015. And finally fellow Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke will be the next Sarah Connor in the upcoming Terminator: Genisys.

What to watch for TV show young adult

Arrow has become a teen favorite. The show has added Charlotte Ross, J.R. Ramirez, Brandon Routh, and Devon Aoki with their cast of heroes and villains of the third season. CW’s “The Flash” is also becoming popular and many have given it a positive review. The show has welcomed Greg Finley as The Girder. Dylan Sprayberry, Khylin Rhambo, and Mason Dye are all set to join “Teen Wolf” for its fourth season. Lastly, Sydney Penney is on board for the fifth season of ABC’s Pretty Little Liars.
