Nikko Angelo Hinayo from Prime’s YA Drama Sterling Point Facetimes us to Talk Working with Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Prime Video’s newest YA drama, Sterling Point, is almost here and we have an exclusive Facetime with Nikko Angelo Hinayo who stars as Sully in the series to learn more.

Sterling Point, created by actress and director Megan Park, follows Annie Jacobson, played by Ella Rubin, as her life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada.

Nikko revealed they were auditioning for Sterling Point at the same time as starring in a production of Legally Blonde. While running through a tech rehearsal, Nikko got the callback and had to complete a Zoom interview during acts, and they nailed it and traveled to film shortly after! Talk about a crazy turn of events.

“I learned that Megan Park was a huge musical theater fan during the audition process.”

Nikko was familiar with Megan Park before filming and said she created a very warm and welcoming environment on set. They said that Sully was even a much different character in the first script, but Megan encouraged the cast to play around with their characters.

“Megan Park was very encouraging for us to bring ourselves to our characters.”

Nikko also got to experiment with Sully’s fun wardrobe. They had styling consultations ahead of filming and were able to showcase bits of themselves into Sully’s wardrobe, including that iconic birthday party outfit.

“It was great to integrate bits of myself into Sully.”

This was one of Nikko’s first major projects, and they said the cast made the experience. The group did a lot off set to get to know each other, including hosting cute picnics and going to fairs, which made the entire filming experience so special.

“The cast was so supportive and patient with any questions I had.”

Nikko also shared what it was like working with acting legend Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Joe in the series. Even on the last day of filming, Jeffrey was incredibly locked in, kind, and professional, helping to mentor all of the younger actors on set.

“Jeffrey was so present and so professional.”

We end the interview with the important question of whether Nikko is Team Ellis or Team Rory. You’ll just have to watch the interview and the series to find out!
