On September 24th, Netflix had its annual Tudum day where all your favorite Netflix stars of your favorite shows came together to share sneak peaks of the new seasons, behind-the-scenes content and more! In this case, Outer Banks drew the fans in with a teaser for their upcoming season. Season 3 is coming to Netflix sometime in 2023, so if you have to catch up, go stream season 1 and 2 on Netflix now.
The teaser starts out with a view of the island the Pogue’s ended up on. Music is playing and you can see Rudy Pankow’s character JJ, putting a “Poguelandia” flag into the ground. Once the song dims, main character John B, played by Chase Stokes, opens the dialogue with, “My pops always said, nothing good comes easy. Nothing worthy is given.” This hints at a wild adventure the pogues go on to get their gold back and saved from the island. Throughout the 1 minute and 21 second trailer, we see glimpses of what JJ, Pope, Kiara, John B, Sarah, Rafe and Ward, Topper and Cleo go through.
We see Ward with the gold cross, Rafe punching someone, and a Kiara and JJ hug that fans went crazy over. We see the Pogues fishing and trying to survive and call for help while stranded on the island. We also see what its like for those not on the island like Rafe and Ward as they fight against people to keep the gold safe. We even see Carla in a snippet that shows her where we saw her last which is still unclear if it’s a flashback or in real time. There’s also a seen where Pope, played by Jonathan Davis, and JJ are hanging from what looks like to be cable wires from an elevator as they shout “John B” and you see John B falling.
Of course the famous van makes an appearance along with new vehicles of a motorcycle and at some point, one of the characters is windsurfing. A plane is shown before we get unclear glimpses of things that are hard to see. We do get to see Cleo, John B, Kiara, Pope, and Sarah cheer as JJ jumps from the cliff. We got to see in the Season 2 finale Sarah Cameron and Kiara sitting next to each other and laughing, so does this mean alls in the past and they can be friends again? Obviously the trailer portrays everyone looking happy and trying to make the best of the situation, so conflict may not be an issue!
After JJ jumps off the cliff, the camera pulls back and you see “OBX 3 Coming 2023” appear at the end as the of the teaser to end it all off. The teaser showed us the action, violence, mystery and friendship aspects we can expect to see in the new season. This seems to be the most exciting and most anticipated season of Outer Banks and 2023 can’t come sooner!
