We always want more Pretty Little Liars in our lives, and since the show is currently on hiatus, we’re going a little stir-crazy. Yes, the fan appreciation special, “We Love You To DeAth,” will air on Night 3 of ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween, and yes, PLL will be back in December with a Christmas episode, “How the A Stole Christmas,” which will kick off the remainder of Season 5. But that’s months away, and to tide us over until then, we’ll be taking a closer look at the ladies of Rosewood and their careers. First up: Lucy Hale.
After appearances on shows like Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, Drake & Josh, and The O.C., Lucy landed her first big role in NBC’s 2007 reboot of Bionic Woman – catch it on Amazon! – playing the teen sister of the title character. The series did not do well and was quickly cancelled.
Also in 2007, Lucy played the teenage sister of Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) for one episoe on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother. She would later reprise the role in HIMYM‘s final season for one more episode.
We next saw Lucy in a supporting role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, as Lena’s (Alexis Bledel) sister Effie, who steals the magical pants and promptly loses them, almost destroying the Sisterhood.
Lucy’s next major series role was on The CW’s Privileged, on which she played the daughter of a major cosmetics company mogul who is taught by a live-in tutor, who was played by Joanna Garcia (Reba, Once Upon a Time). Unfortunately for Lucy (but fortunately for her future fans), the series was cancelled. She immediately went on to star in Pretty Little Liars.
Since landing the role of Aria, Lucy has had unbridled success. She has made guest appearances on Baby Daddy, CSI: Miami, and Private Practice, as well as appearing in feature films such as Scream 4.
In 2014, Lucy added one more item to her list of accomplishments with the release of her debut country music album Road Between, which was released this past June and peaked at number 4 on the US country charts.
Make sure to tune into the fan appreciation episode of PLL, “We Love Your to DeAth,” which airs during ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween, Tuesday, October 21 at 8:00.
