“We all tell lies, but you’re the only one who knows how to live in it.” And thus goes the moral of “The Guilty Girl’s Handbook.” Emily and her mom are staying in a motel A MOTEL since the car mysteriously crashed into their house. Although there are shortcuts in getting to the bottom of it, Emily’s mom seems nervous and scared to say the least.
Poor Ashley, looks like she’s locked up (I BEEN LOCKED UP) for the forseeable future. Even the most rockstar attorney in town can’t get her out. Mrs. Hastings then brings bad tidings that Ashley’s bail was denied. She’s going for not-guilty…and everything seems fine, until we learn that Ash is being transferred to a state penitentiary. WHAT IS THIS, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK??? You don’t think Hanna is going to let that happen, do you?
Aria is looking after Mike while Byron is OOT. After telling Aria that he is going to party, Aria gives him the second degree about his late night activities. However, he needs to retain a shroud of mystery, obviously, so he eludes her questioning.
Emily decides not to worry about the house and to worry about the future…what a wonder. After sitting down with Ezra, she decides that a small school in Maryland may be the way to go. Since swimming exnid, Emily decides that doing more work with Habitat for Humanity is the best way to help her land a college acceptance letter, outside of the pool. Remember, charity looks great on college apps, even despite various criminal affiliations!
Spencer looks for information that could take the heat off of Ashley and put someone else in prison for murder. What else is new? After finding a document that places Detective Wilden, Nurse Eddie on the night of Toby’s mother’s death, Spencer demands answers. Over the course of the conversation, Spencer finds out that Wilden changed the incident report for Toby’s mom’s death. Spencer tells her mom in the hopes of helping Ashley, but it still isn’t enough and she’s left behind bars.
Mona is back, (MONA!!) and willing to help Hanna construct a series of lies under the guise of a “confession” to get her mother out of jail. Hanna’s lie takes on levels of intricacy that actually make the story seem realer than what actually happened. Props to Mona.
Aria turns to Kung Fu Jake for comfort about her bro’s weird-up behavior. Jake tells Aria that Mike is worried that the guys on his team have turned on him. This convo inevitably turns into movie and dinner with Jake…inevitably.
In a big twist, brought on by a jail visit by Caleb to Ashley, Mona makes her way to the police station, and confesses to the murder of Detective Wilden. UM, HOLY.
Did Mona have this planned the entire time? What does this mean for A and the rest of the girls? We’ll have to wait and see. Did you guys catch Mikey Wax’s song and tweet about it? xx YA.
