Once upon a time there were four pretty girls being stalked by someone named ‘A’. In tonight’s episode our beloved Liars are one step closer to finding out that the monster they’ve been looking for is their closest confident, their high school English teacher, and Aria’s on again off again current secret boyfriend – the one and only Ezra Fits.

When Emily, Hannah, and Spencer find Ally’s notorious notebook in Ezra’s desk, the three are more confused than ever. Emily tries to get a hold of Aria just to let her know, but keeps getting her voicemail. Spencer decides to take the notebook home and tries to see what she can find.  With her lack of sleep and pill popping habit, her mind goes elsewhere and she’s suddenly transported into a black and white world 1940’s style noir world.

Spencer, Emily, Hannah, and Aria are suddenly years older and at completely different points in their respective lives. Spencer is being stalked by her supposed dead but very much alive friend, Ally, then taken in for questioning by head of police, Toby. Hannah is working as an operator, on a mission to find out more about Ezra’s past with Ally. Aria, in love with Ezra finds out more about the person he truly is and tries to find solace with her friends. Emily, is in over her head, at a time when being a lesbian was extremely unaccepted and not allowed.

When Spencer finally comes to she realizes the mystery of Ally’s notebook. Why else was the notebook so easily found? Spencer tells Hannah and Emily how the notebook’s names, places, and events have all been changed to confuse them. When they cant get through to Aria they run over to her house. When the girls finally get there, they watch her locking lips with Ezra, the one and only ‘A’.
