Just Beyond is a series that premiered on Disney+ on October 13th. The series is about supernatural journeys through the worlds of witches, aliens, ghosts, and alternate dimensions. Just Beyond was created by Seth Grahame-Smith and was based on Boom! Studios’ graphic novels of the same name by R. L. Stine. The show consists of 8 individual episodes and has 8 unique stores. YEM did an interview with R.L. Stine and Seth Grahame-Smith to learn more about Just Beyond.
In the interview both R.L. Stine and Seth Grahame-Smith were able to answer a lot of questions about the film and had a lot to share. The interview covered questions such as what it was like working and getting to know the cast, who made a lasting impression, and what it was like working on a set where the cast was different for every episode.
When asked if any of the episodes was a standout R.L. Stine states that the episode “Which Witch” is one of his favorite episodes because of the make-up and the wittiness in it. He also liked having it in a high school and having a witch in with a witch family. He also likes that the writing is very clever and funny. Seth Grahame-Smith replies that “the goal is to scare and entertain them. The number one goal is to make a show where preteens and teens and families can all watch this together, be scared, and be swept up in a really entertaining story, and do something new in the R.L. Stine universe.” When asked what they wanted viewers to take away from the series and what goal they had. Watch the full interview to see more of what R.L. Stine and Seth Grahame-Smith have to say and what they think of the blurred line between horror and humor.
