Reasons Why You Should Watch Disney’s High School Musical

The High School Musical Trilogy was a hit  – the cast was great, the songs were a bop, the story was good, and more. And so, even after several years, it’s still one of the popular shows that everyone remembers. It’s so popular back then that it inspired a new series – High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which is also a must-watch.

But what’s with this new High School Musical and what makes it worth watching? Here’s a sneak peek at what awaits you in the series that makes it a must-see.

Sing and Dance Along to the Old Songs

One of the things that make the High School Musical Trilogy popular is its songs. Some are a bop that will make you hop on Free Jazz Lessons and others are just so lovely to sing along to. And it’s one of the things that everyone surely misses.

Luckily, though, the High School Musical Series lets you sing and dance to the popular songs from the trilogy. The cast will give you nostalgia as they rehearse and perform the musical.

This means you’ll get to see their own rendition of the iconic songs from the High School Musical movie. Yes, you can also dance to “What I’ve Been Looking For” and sing along to “Breaking Free,” to name a few.

Take a trip Down Memory Lane

Speaking of nostalgia, you will not only be transported back to 2006 with merely the iconic songs from the movie. Apparently, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series also has scenes that will remind you of the original High School Musical.

This is because the drama teacher in the show is a big fan of the movies. Hence, the show makes a lot of references to it. She even bought the cell phone that Vanessa Hudgens used in the movie for good luck.

You can also spot several items from the set design that will remind you of certain scenes in the movie, such as the camel prop where Troy used to hide himself to sneak around the theatre and more!

The series even takes place where the original High School Musical filmed. From the gym where Troy and his team got their heads in the game to the iconic cafeteria where Gabriella accidentally spilled her food on Sharpay, it’s going to be really nostalgic.

The Cameos!

It has been years since fans last saw some of the High School Musical cast members on screen and see them in character. Hence, for sure, you already miss them.

But the good news is that aside from the set design, props, and the songs, the High school Musical: The Musical: The Series also lets you go back in time by inviting in some of the original cast members of the movie.

Ryan Evans (played by Lucas Grabeel) is one of the cast members that made a guest appearance in the series. The well-loved pop-lock-jam-and-breaker Martha Cox (portrayed by Kaycee Stroh) showed her moves once again too.

And who knows who else will make an appearance. While the series hasn’t revealed who will make a cameo next, Zac Efron, who played Troy Bolton, has already expressed his interest in making an appearance in the series back in 2019.

Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella Montez) and Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay Evans), on the other hand, think they won’t be able to give their characters some justice now that they’ve matured already. But, who knows if they will have a change of heart after seeing how much their fans love them and their characters.

Listen to New Songs

High School Musical trilogy has a lot of wonderful songs that made everyone sing their hearts out. Hence, if you’re an OG wild cat, you probably would just want to listen to these songs alone. But, the series is worth giving a chance too for its new songs.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series also has its original songs that are equally as good as the old ones, such as “Born to Be Brave,” “I Think I Kinda, You Know,” “Truth, Justice, and Songs in Our Key,” and “Role of a Lifetime,” to name a few.

Just like the old songs from the original movie, the new songs from the series will also make you sing and dance. The cast members are equally good at singing too – just take a look at Olivia Rodrigo, for instance.

The Show’s Style

If you’re a big fan of The Office, you’ll likely enjoy the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series too because, apparently, the series has a different style from the original movie.  The series is actually a mockumentary style.

It has shots with interview-like segments and characters react to the camera just as how the cast of The Office does. But, the difference is that, well, the documentary is all about the students working on their show. Its fresh perspective will make you feel as if you’re part of the show yourself.

The Cast

Unfortunately for the fans of the original High School Musical, you won’t be seeing all your favorite characters – unless someone can make some of the original cast change their minds, though. The main cast of the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series are new.

Even so, they are insanely talented too. They’re good at singing, dancing, and even comedic timing. Everyone in the cast is as good as the original High School Musical members and they know how to give justice to their characters, which is why the series is worth watching too.

The Story

Just because High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has nearly the same name as the movie, doesn’t mean it has the same story as the original one. Apparently, the story doesn’t merely revolve around the musical. It will also take let you delve deeper into the lives of the main characters, which is far from the original movie.

These are just the tip of the iceberg why HSMTMTS is worth watching. See the series or yourself and you will never regret it.
