Young Entertainment Mag: Our readers know you from Coop & Cami Ask The World. How would you describe the last year of your life as a Disney Channel star?

Ruby Rose Turner: It’s been such a great year and so much fun. I’ve learned so much. I’ve met and worked with so many great people and I’ve been able to travel a lot, which I love to do. I’m so grateful for all of the opportunities that Disney Channel has given me.

YEM: Coop & Cami is almost done with its first season. What can fans expect in the rest of the season?

Ruby: It’s crazy to think that almost all of the episodes from season one have already aired! But the best is definitely yet to come. The final 3 episodes are a 3-part story and I get to dance in them! They are definitely special to me. So I’m super excited for everyone to see them.

YEM: Coop & Cami got renewed for Season 2! What would you love to see the Wrather’s experience in Season 2?

Ruby: Oh gosh, there are so many things I’d like to see happen. Of course, just to have the story lines and character relationships develop even more. Also seeing the Wrather kids growing up and going through more relatable things that kids go through in school and life at home. I’m excited to get back to set and back to filming!

YEM: How much do you have in common with your character, Cami?

Ruby: I think Cami is definitely a little tougher on the outside than I am. The way she handles situations is a bit stronger than I would personally, but that’s what I like about her. She’s bold and just goes for it.

YEM: What is the craziest thing you’ve had to do on the show?

Ruby: I would say one of the craziest things I had to do was be sucked up into a giant nose and when I fell out, I was covered in slime/snot. I didn’t get to do a lot of the messy dares and I really wanted to, so the writers put that in there for me as a birthday gift. True story.

YEM: You’re not only an actress, you’re also a design influencer! You just launched your B.Rosy collection of handbags. How did the collection come to be?

Ruby: Haha, well I definitely loved the opportunity to be able to be creative in a different way. So, when I was approached to create the line, I of course loved the idea. I was completely in charge of the design process and got to give all of my ideas to Almar and work with them and they made it happen. I’m really grateful for the opportunity and hopefully I’ll do more with design and fashion in the future.

YEM: Have fashion always been an interest of yours?

Ruby: I guess you could say I’ve worn a few dance costumes haha. I do love to dress up and wear fun clothes to all of the different events that I get to go to. Right now, I’m just learning from all of the creative people that I work with but yes, fashion is a lot of fun.

YEM: How involved were you in the design process?

Ruby: Really involved. In the beginning we had a lot of meetings over several months, and we would sit around a big table and they would ask me to tell them all about what styles I liked, colors and designs. They would help if I needed and give me some examples of what was possible and then we would narrow it down from there. It was a long process and a lot of just exploring and finding out what I really wanted these bags to be like in the end. I didn’t have a set vision in the beginning, but through the process I discovered what it was that I wanted and that’s what you see today. I’m happy with the product.

YEM: What made you want to create a handbag line? Are there other accessory lines that you would like to create?

Ruby: I really didn’t know that it was possible for me to be able to do this at my age, but with the help of some people that believed in me, I was able to make it happen. I’d love to design more if given the opportunity so who knows what the future holds.

YEM: Red carpets are a familiar experience for you. Do you have a fashion icon or a celebrity whose fashion you really admire?

Ruby: Well, every event and red carpet is always so different, and I love looking at the different styles that people wear. What I love most is when people aren’t afraid to make a statement and go with a bold or fun, unique look.

YEM: You are also working on Disney Channel’s first IGTV series. How is this series different from working on a television series?

Ruby: The IGTV series is a fun vlog style series with behind the scenes type content.  Showing us in our everyday lives, outside of the show, that people would enjoy watching while on instagram. I think they turned out really well. I’m hoping they continue with more!

YEM: Finally, you’re so busy, but will you also be working on any music in the future?

Ruby: I just recorded a new song that I can’t wait for everyone to hear. I think people are going love it. So stay tuned!
