Freeform recently announced the cancelation of Shadowhunters, a fan-favorite show on the channel, and fans were obviously upset. When the channel announced that it wouldn’t be picking the series up for a fourth season, cast, crew and fans alike were shocked because the series was doing incredibly well, trending on twitter during every new episode. The second half of season three is slated to air in 2019, but fans are rallying on social media to save the show with the hashtag: #SaveShadowhunters
Fans have created petitions, started twitter campaigns and even bought billboards in attempt to convince Freeform, or another platform, to pick up the show for a fourth season. It’s been done with other shows like NBC’s Timeless and Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
A Change.org petition created by fans has over 145,000 signatures and counting. Over 10 million tweets have been have circulated the twitter-sphere with #SaveShadowhunters and in a plea to Netflix, an airplane bought by fans, circled it’s headquarters in LA with a banner attached.

But don’t count the show out just yet! According to producer Martin Moszkowicz, in an interview with Deadline, “We are in ongoing discussions with the network and Netflix to how we can continue to bring Cassandra Claire’s vision to television.” As long as talks like these are still ongoing, there’s still a sliver of hope for another season. The show also won two awards at the Teen Choice Awards this weekend, proving just how dedicated the fans really are.
Shadowhunters, starring Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa, Harry Shum Jr. and Alisha Wainwright returns for the second half of it’s final season in Spring 2019.
