#blackherman was a towering figure during the Harlem Renaissance and one of the best known magicians of his time. Sadly, you can't find much about him in the history books. We weaved his incredible story into the lore of our book #kingstonandthemagicianslostandfound

So writing this book was a long journey. It started as TV Pilot for Amazon Studios and after a long windy road it became a book series from Penguin Random House. So advice to any aspiring writers out there. Keep at it! Believe in your ideas. Don't give up on them.

Another #FunFact about the writing of Kingston. We did a 80k word first draft that got almost completely scrapped when we started on revisions. There are a few vestiges of that first draft in the book but it was basically a page 1 rewrite. So don't be afraid to start fresh!

We always like asking writers what they listened to when they are writing. For us it was a lot of @flyinglotus @philipglass @nas @lilbaby4PF @TCO_Official

Along with real magicians like Black Herman we also included some real magic tricks into the world of Kingston. #skullofbalsamo is one of our favorites! pic.twitter.com/aMNSK7SACw

Echo City #Brooklyn is also a big character in our story. While Echo City is a fictional neighborhood in Brooklyn we tried to make it feel as real as possible. One fun place we included is a pizza spot named Not Not Ray's. Anyone from Brooklyn know the reference?
