Sidelined: The QB and Me stars Siena Agudong and Drew Ray Tanner talk sibling bond and working with Noah Beck

Movie night anyone? An unexpected high school romance in the heart of football season delivers viewers both touchdowns and heartwarming moments in Sidelined: The QB and Me, a new Tubi original out now! Before the film’s release, we chatted with Siena Agudong and Drew Ray Tanner to learn more about their sibling bond in the film and how they prepared for those football intensive scenes.

Sidelined: The QB and Me is based on the Wattpad YA novel “The QB Bad Boy and Me” and follows high school quarterback heartthrob Drayton, played by Noah Beck, and Dallas, a headstrong dancer, played by Siena, as they fight their feelings for eachother as a grad future threatens to keep them apart. Drew plays Dallas’s older brother and Drayton’s football coach Nathan.

Siena: “We did a football training day which was so much fun.”

You probably already recognize Noah Beck from TikTok as his social media stardom has led him to 33 million followers. He is also a producer on the film.

Siena is no stranger to the drama and horror genres as she got her start in TV in a recurring role on ABC’s Texas Ranger drama Killer Women. She also played Nick in the Netflix original series No Good Nick, the 2022 Netflix live action series Resident Evil and the blockbuster film F9 / Fast and Furious 9.

Drew is known for his iconic role as Fangs Fogarty in Riverdale, of which he became a series regular in season five. He also appeared in the Netflix film Work It and the thriller series Somewhere Between.

With many scenes on the football field in the film, Drew said the cast had a football intensive day to film those scenes, and a semi pro football even came in to play the other positions. Drew played professional football himself and revealed he was a part of that same football league 10 years ago. Talk about a full circle moment!

Drew: “The football stuff was great. We had a wonderful football club who filled in the roles of the other players.”

This movie marked another project set in high school for Drew and he said both Sidelined: The QB and Me and Riverdale gave him another chance at high school and he’s learned to live in the moment while on set and cherish each project.

Drew: “I always say about Riverdale that it was getting a second shot at high school.”

Drew and Siena look and act like real siblings in the film, and they said they said their initial coffee meetup set the tone and it was so easy to connect and form that brother/sister bond.

Siena: “Everyone on this set in the cast and crew genuinely cared for one another.”

Consider this:

– Every project that you are a part of is a special experience. Don’t take yourself too seriously and enjoy yourself while you’re in the moment.

-Even when you wrap your scenes on set for the day, if you are able to, try and hang around and observe other scenes and actors. You can learn a lot just by watching.
