Spider-Man’s Amazing Villains

Because we’re super excited about the release of The Amazing Spiderman 2, YA Magazine decided to take a look at the villains that we can expect to see in the reboot.

First up is Harry Osborn Peter Parker’s original frenemy.  Dane Dehaan takes the role, which was previously occupied by James Franco in the Sam Raimi version of the franchise.  Harry returns to New York in time to see his father Norman die of a terminal illness, leaving Harry as CEO of Oscorp.  However, it’s not too long before Harry’s making financial gaffs (read: accepting bribes) and he’s about to get ousted. Stuff gets all kind of messed up when Harry starts tinkering with Norman’s inventions and ends up in the suit of armor that transforms him into the Green Goblin.  Dane Dehaan put in a great break out performance in 2012 movie Chronicle, and his natural pixie-ish looks surprisingly compliment the Green Goblin make up!  Looks like his teeth could use a brush though.  Check out Dane as Harry/The Green Goblin below:

Taking the role of villain number two in the franchise is Jamie Foxx as Electro, created when Oscorp employee Max Dillon accidentally falls into a pit of eels (as you do) and is rescued by Spidey.  He quickly becomes obsessed with Spiderman and his powers get out of control.  This role is a real departure for Jamie Foxx and the images below promise a side of him that we’ve never seen before!  He kind of looks like he ran straight out of the Blue Man Group show on Broadway, and we love it.

Paul Giamatti
takes the role of Aleksei Sytesevich/The Rhino, a Russian mobster who Spiderman foils early on in the film who later breaks out of prison and wreaks havoc on the streets of New York in this formidable suit.  If we were Spiderman, we’d be tempted to call in sick to work that day.
