The cover has the pretty white girl in a pretty dress thing going on, but it definitely has its own unique points–like what appear to be tattoos on Eleanor’s arm, her funky hairdo, and the steampunked background with both fresh copper and the grey-green verdigris that the metal gets when it oxidizes. If that was a conscious choice on the designers’ part, then kudos to them! Author Susan Dennard debuted with the first in this series, and now she’s wrapping things up to move on to her next YA novels (“Truthwitch”, Fall 2015).
