In this episode, Scott and Lydia finally join forces while the sheriff faces a review. It’s clear that the series is ramping up to a dramatic finale and it’s interesting to see the steps the writers are taking to get there. For example, after last week’s chilling confrontation with Noshiko the logical move for the nogitsune is to turn everyone against one another. With the help of some mind control flies and bringing up wounds from the past, the nogitsune causes a lot of chaos.

For example, Isaac is prompted to focus on how the twins killed Boyd and Erica, a wound still fresh and painful to him. Also, Derek recalls how Chris Argent’s sister Kate killed his entire family thanks to the nogitsune. As for the twins, their old disagreements about their future in Beacon Hill and their differing thoughts about joining Scott’s pack were dredged up.

In other types of deception, Stiles has some information about the break-up of the McCall marriage that he knows would hurt and upset Scott and Melissa wants to keep from him. He teases that information out there to make her nervous. The nogitsune is going to use everyone’s secrets and shame and play upon those things to bring everyone down.
