The Originals is compelling largely because it has such a textured mythology built into it. The newest episode, “Le Grand Guignol” really drives that point home. The episode begins in 1919 with Klaus and Elijah celebrating their family status and success. Klaus even supported Rebekah and Marcel’s relationship – only to have that quashed as soon as Mikael came into town.
Back in the present day, Klaus is angry with his sister for that whole murder-plot thing…and angry at Elijah also. Elijah recruits Cami to help assuage Klaus’s anger. Klaus has a romantic soft spot for Cami…and Elijah knows that the fact Cami has vervain in her blood will literally throw Klaus off the trail.
Things aren’t much better for present-day Rebekah and Marcel: they decide to turn back mid-flight and rescue/resurrect Davina. They do this thinking that if they’re successful, Davina can perform a cloaking spell and help them to rid themselves of Klaus forever.
There’s a lot of Sabine/Celeste drama that ends up with Celeste’s death and Hayley having to decide if she’ll choose her original crew or the Originals. Celeste’s death resurrected Davina. This is exciting for us but less so for the Originals. Do you think that Davina’s resurrection will cause problems for The OGs? Will new alliances arise? As all this was going down, The Originals could only watch from afar as a boundary spell kept them out of the cemetery. Everyone, that is, but Rebekah and Klaus. Klaus also has a white oak stake that can’t be destroyed. In a turn of events that mirrors the opening we saw in 1919, Klaus is chasing his family with the white oak stake instead of Mikael. Do you think that Klaus will succumb to over a century of hate? Will he decide to let Rebekah make her own choices? Tweet us #Originals thoughts and join the conversation!
