The Tomorrow People Recap

The Tomorrow People started its second episode “In Too Deep” with Stephen trying to cope after his decision about his medication in last week’s premiere. The episode began with Stephen having a vivid dream about confronting a fellow Tomorrow Person. Then there’s his mother reminding him to clean up his room and take his medication. He then uses his powers to clean up his room and teleport to his school. Wouldn’t you? Stephen continues to lie to his friend Astrid about his supposed psychotic break. This could prove problematic down the road…Astrid is one smart cookie.

We learn a little bit more explicitly about the powers of the Tomorrow People. Stephen explains that they have the capabilities of teleportation, telekinesis, and telepathy. Telepathy does not just mean reading thoughts but also memories and emotions. Jedikiah explains the idea about the “nerve center of Ultra” and how they can rack teenagers with “breaks” who could destroy humanity. We see a flash of a teenager who forces a bank security guard to rob a bank using his mind.

Stephen teleports to the lair to get advice from Cara about the situation. John is not happy to see him. Stephen tries to explain that he is now working for Ultra to keep his normal life but John wont listen. While Stephen’s confronting the Tomorrow People, he misses his “friend date” with Astrid. Worried, she calls his mom. He agrees to his mother’s request to go back on his medication.

We also learned that supercomputer Tim was once Ultra’s but John stole it. Strike two, John. Cara and John share a moment as he worries about the future of the homo superior race. She doesn’t like what she hears and starts to snoop around through John’s things. Cara gives Stephen John’s watch. The watch allows you to keep out people who are trying to read your mind your mind. Later, John, Cara, and Russell track down Kurt, the teenager who has been robbing banks and armored cars, but are unsuccessful in their attempt to help or stop him.

Stephen helps Ultra in visiting Kurt’s home and finding Kurt in his upstairs crawlspace. Ultra then calls in a special force to take out Kurt permanently. Stephen confronts. As a last resort Stephen asks the Tomorrow People for help but they refuse.

Finally, everyone convinces John to help Kurt rather than continue to hide out. Stephen finds Kurt and pleads with him to join the Tomorrow People and be safe. Before Kurt can commit to joining the Tomorrow People an Ultra agent finds them. Kurt uses his powers to almost push Stephen off of the roof but John comes to Stephen’s rescue while Cara calms Kurt down.

Jedikiah reprimands Stephen for his involvement and takes his watch. Stephen is debriefed by an Ultra agent using telepathy and has to fight against the mind invasion. Stephen manages to evade her finding out about anything. Jedikiah reveals that he is not the ultimate boss in Ultra which comes as a shock to Stephen. John and Stephen share a heart to heart as he passes over the watch. John wants Stephen to bring down Ultra from the inside as part of his master plan. Stephen and Cara’s budding friendship continues to grow. He tells her that he’s going to take care of his family and friends in both species. Stephen agrees to pretend to be a gold soldier for Ultra…but Jedikiah is suspicious. Is there a love triangle brewing? Will Stephen use his powers for good or evil? Will John calm down or out the group entirely? Tune into The Tomorrow People Wednesday nights on the CW and watch the action unfold. See local listings for times.
