The Tomorrow People, S01E11 – Rumble

This episode begins with a flashback to six years earlier, when Cara was scooped off the streets by an unknown character who offered a place in his crew of fellow tomorrow people.  Cut to the present, where Cara is pouting about the botched Citadel mission.  The folk in the Lair, seemingly ready to change their leader like most people change their socks, are making mutinous noises.  John reassures Cara that she’s the boss, she just needs confidence.  Meanwhile, Charlotte, the young girl rescued from the Citadel, is troubled for different reasons.  She can’t control her powers and keeps having these weird high frequency mental fits that are really bad for everyone’s hearing.  Stephen is through the first stage of Ultra training but Jedikiah tells him that he needs to step up his game or risk being stripped of his powers.  He tasks Stephen with finding Julian Masters, a break out from five years ago gone bad.  Cara reveals to Stephen that she knows Julian; it so happens that he was the guy who offered her shelter six years ago.  Cara rode along with him in a stick up which went badly wrong, ending with Julian’s girlfriend dead.  Now she must warn him of the threat from Ultra.  They meet up, and Julian tells Cara to step off; it almost descends into violence.  Back at base, the TP’s are all for throwing Charlotte out of the Lair but Cara says she stays.  John puts on some boxing pads and lets Cara throw a few weedy punches at him as therapy.

Later, Russell follows Julian on a burglary.  Julian discovers him and gives him a good old fashioned beating.  Cara is very upset and goes after Julian.  Unbeknownst to Julian, she has brought along a secret weapon; Charlotte.  Charlotte gives a good angry yowl and Julian’s crew scatter.  Stephen busts in but Julian manages to get away, throwing one of his cohorts under the bus in the process.  Nevertheless Jedikiah is pleased with Stephen’s performance, as Ultra managed to bag Julian’s crew.  Stephen and Cara later share a loaded moment before Tim the talking computer steamrollers in, ruining the prospect of a romantic chat.  How will the Cara/John/Stephen triangle unfold?  And how is Julian going to exact his revenge upon Cara for taking apart his crew again?  Tune in next time to find out.
