While this vampy little series closed Season 4 with some pretty intense cliffhangers, don’t expect to see the immediate fallout in the fall premiere. Instead, there will be a time lapse to the autumn, with Elena and company enrolling in college. But not to worry: producers confirm that we will get a glimpse of the hot loving between Elena and Damon over break, plus much more. What we do know: Canadian actor Shaun Sipos, (Melrose Place, Life Unexpected), has landed a recurring role in The Vampire Diaries season 5 as college student Aaron, who bonds with Elena over their similarly tragic family histories. Described as Elena’s “new best friend,” the character is rife to recur throughout fifth season. But what about Damon? Producers are adamant that Elena and Damon will still be going strong. In the beginning of the season, we’ll see them struggle with maintaining a long-term relationship, now that Elena and Caroline have started college. Meanwhile, Stefan is still stuck in his own private hell, trapped at the bottom of the lake while Silas pretends to be him. Take a peek on Thursdays on The CW!
