1. Guardians of the Galaxy

Summer is here and with it are the mega-blockbusters. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro and Glenn Close star in this inter-galactic epic sure to rule at the box office.

 

2. Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

The fifth book in the bloodline series, Silver Shadows isn’t your typical vampire series; instead it follows an alchemist, Sydney. Alchemists are a group of humans who dabble in magic and bridge the world between humans and vampires. As this is the fifth book, the series is already highly established and well paced.

 

3. They Want My Soul by Spoon

Spoon is one of those groups that gets better with age – Their new album features a multitude of singles already getting crazy love from critics. While this may not be the breakout album of the summer, it’s sure to have long legs through fall and next year.

 

4. So You Think You Can Dance

The competition grows more intense and each step could mean the difference between success and failure as one of our favorite shows progresses. Are you voting for your favorites?

 

5. The Young World by Chris Weitz

Movie director Chris Weitz tackles the YA sphere with The Young World, an apocalyptic outbreak story. Tribes form in response to a virus decimating world population. The only thing that keeps the tribes from completely annihilating one another is their shared goal of wiping out the virus…before it wipes all of them out.

 

6. What If

What If has a stellar cast comprised of Daniel Radcliffe, Adam Driver, Zoe Kazan and more. The story follows friends and one guy, Wallace, who conscientiously decides to put his love life on hold. When he does, things take a turn for the interesting.

 

7. The Bridge from Me to You by Lisa Schroeder

Fans of dual narrative structure are sure to love this tome that follows Lauren and Colby and what happens when their worlds intertwine. Lauren has a secret, Colby has a problem…and in alternating narrative chapters, their lives will become more connected than either thought possible.

 

8. Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 51

The powerhouse that is Now What I Call Music! Is back with its newest installment. The 51st volume features songs from Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and more of your favorite artists, and is sure to be one of the hot playlists of the summer.

 

9. Kalona’s Fall by PC Cast & Kristin Cast

The fourth novella in the House of Night Series, Kalona’s fall will finally bring to light secrets from Kalona’s past never before known. The second to last installment in the series, make sure not to miss Kalona’s Fall.

 

10. Pretty Little Liars

We don’t know how the show does it, but the combination of plot, music and fashion is unlike anything else on right now. Don’t miss your favorite Liars, we’re tuning in!

Top Ten Things to Be Excited About This Week


1. Hungry by H.A. Swain

What if we never had to worry about food, or eating, ever again? In Hunger the world has been fundamentally changed by the introduction of a medication that eliminates the need to eat. When an underground movement starts to bring food back, the daughter of the pioneers that created the medication has to decide where her allegiances lie. Hunger is out 6/3.

 

2. The Fault In Our Stars

We’ve talked a lot about TFIOS and it’s finally here! All of the cry-worthy trailer moments, all of the love, all of the sadness, all of the depth and wonder…it all has to be experienced on the big screen. While all the performances are powerful, keep an eye on Ansel Elgort…this is a star-making turn.

 

3. Lucy Hale – Road Between

Lucy Hale is many things; beautiful, a talented actress, and now she can add a successful singer to the resume. We’ve been tracking this album release for a long time right now and it’s finally here. With a beautiful country sound that showcases Hale’s soulful voice, this album isn’t to be missed and sure to be the first of many.

 

4. CMT Music Awards

One of the hottest awards shows is back.  Kristen Bell returns as host as we watch the live show go down in Nashville. Miranda Lambert leads with 6 nominations. Other nominees include Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Cassadee Pope, Kacey Musgraves and many more. Be sure to catch all your favorite artists 6/4.

 

5. The Night Before Our Stars

6. X Men Days of Future Past Original Soundtrack

X-Men Days of Future Past original soundtrack hits 6/3 and is definitely worth checking out. We loved the movie, in large part due to the music included.  Listening to the soundtrack is intense and recalls watching the movie again in great detail. Make sure not to miss the Jim Croce track.

 

7. So You Think You Can Dance

The steps get more difficult and the competition gets stiffer as we move into subsequent audition rounds of cult-favorite SYTYCD. Favorites and early leaders start to emerge as the contestants all get a step closer to winning their dreams, or losing everything.

 

8. Now That’s What I Call Country 7

A spin of off the popular That’s What I Call Music series, That’s What I Call Country has found success in it’s own right. That’s What I Call Country 7 hits 6/3 and includes tracks from artists such as Carrie Underwood, Cassadee Pope, Keith Urban & Miranda Lambert and many, many more.

 

9.  The Prince of Venice Beach by Blake Nelson

Out 6/3 The Prince of Venice Beach follows what it’s like to be a teenager…without a home and without wanting one. Venice Beach is many things – fun, glamorous, sunny…and it can also be grueling, tiresome and difficult. 10. Push Girl by Chelsie Hill and Jessica Love

One of the Sundance Channel Series stars turns pen to paper with a tale of tragedy and triumph. Push Girl follows a girl in the aftermath of a tragic car accident and watches as she tries to navigate her new life in high school as a Push Girl. Push Girl hits 6/3. Don’t miss it!
