GOD HELP THE GIRL

Summed up as:
Emily Browning in a non-creepy movie for a change, about a cutesy girl trying to make it as a cutesy singer.
Coolest thing about the trailer: The Skins’s Olly Alexander and Hannah Murray (also of Game of Thrones) show up too.
We also like: The soundtrack for the trailer. Is that Emily singing?
Worth seeing opening weekend? For the folksy Britpop lover in all of us, sure.

KITE

Summed up as: A super badass-looking revenge fantasy based on the celebrated anime, starring India Eisley (of Secret Life of the American Teenager).
Coolest thing in the trailer:
Samuel L. Jackson’s ‘aha’ moment—just before pulling the trigger.
Other coolest thing:
The Inspector Gadget-style gun in a handbag.
Worth seeing opening weekend?
In a word—yes. This looks gorgeous. And we do love a good revenge story.

OUIJA

Summed up as:
A pretty standard horror movie treatment, this with the gimmick of a Ouija board.
Scariest thing in the trailer: The eyes rolling back in the head is pretty cool, as is the mouth-sewn-shut-with-dental-floss moment.
Dumbest thing: The overused trappings we see in every one of these flicks: the scary noises, shadows in the window curtains andOF COURSE the creepy doll heads…
Worth seeing opening weekend? Not really, but we’ll give it a go for the cast: SLOTAM’s always-hot Darren Kagasoff, Bates Motel’s Olivia Cooke, and The Fosters’ Bianca Santos.

LAGGIES

Summed up as:
Keira Knightley teams up with YA queen Chloe Moretz for a coming-of-age and then falling-behind movie about a young woman who avoids having to make tough life decisions by hanging with a bunch of high schoolers.
Best thing in the trailer: The always-appealing Sam Rockwell.
Most annoying thing: How we are supposed to believe that Keira Knightley can be this directionless soul in a rut.
Worth seeing opening weekend? Not so much.

GOTHAM

Summed up as:
The villains come out to play in this enticing teaser of the Batman prequel TV show.
Best thing in the trailer: Catwoman and Penguin look fun.
Hottest thing: The O.C.’s smokin’Ben McKenzie of course, playing James Gordon!
Worth seeing opening weekend? We’re there!

MAY IN THE SUMMER

Summed up as:
Alia Shawkat continues to buck expectations with this second collaboration with director Cherien Dabis, after 2009‘s Amreeka.
Best thing in the trailer: Alia Shawcat, obviously.
Craziest thing: Alia Shawcat’s hair, obviously.
Worth seeing opening weekend? This tale of a soon-to-be-married woman at the crossroads of family, faith and identity in modern-day Amman, Jordan looks undeniably interesting.

ANOTHER ME

Summed up as: Game of Thrones’ Sansa Stark, aka Sophie Turner, gets into it deep as a young woman hounded by…herself. Oh, and hottie to end all hotties Gregg Sulkin is in this as well.
Coolest thing about the trailer: Aside from the curious premise, the soundtrack and audio effects here are pretty cool.
Dumbest thing in the trailer: We could do without the cliche haircutting scene.
Worth seeing opening weekend? We might give this one a shot, just for Sophie and Gregg.
