Each week, an accomplished published author takes over the YEM Twitter account for Thursday’s Twitter Takeover. Each week, the YA author will answer questions, tell stories, and give advice on our social media. This week young adult author Michelle McCann will be taking over our Twitter account.
Michelle Roehm McCann has worked as a children’s book editor and art director for more than twenty years, as well as writing and compiling seven award-winning children’s books of her own, including the 2019 Oregon Book Award finalist More Girls Who Rocked the World and the Janes Addams Children’s Book award winner Luba: The Angel of Bergen-Belsen. She is an active member of Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety, the leading national group that is fighting for common-sense gun safety laws. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her family.
Michelle is the author of ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: How Students Can Join the Fight for Gun Safety. The book is a study of America’s history with gun violence and explores the myths and facts, causes and perpetrators, solutions and change-makers in this destructive and horrifying trend. Written for the budding teen activist, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH is both a history lesson and a call to action providing teens with a road map for activism in the growing gun violence prevention movement. With a foreword from Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH explores just how teens can stand up and get involved—both locally and nationally—to join the fight and save lives across the nation. Included in the book is a Q&A with gun owners who support increased gun safety laws.
