Taylor Swift – “Shake It Off”
Taylor Swift announced a brand new album entitled 1989 today and this is the brand new video for the lead single. Swift commented “People can say what they want about us, at any time. We cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to it.” And she does indeed do an admirable job of shaking it off; the song is relentlessly cheerful whilst Taylor is having a ton of fun in the video dancing us through a whirligig of tongue in cheek moves and fashions. It’s an ultra polished effort, directed by prominent movie shooter Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go, One Hour Photo). We love the video and are excited at Taylor’s assurances that the upcoming record is her first fully-fledged, official pop album.
More please!
The Kooks – “Forgive and Forget”
It’s been WAY too long since we heard from The Kooks. The self professed champions of Britpop burst onto the soundwaves with their ridiculously wonderful debut album Inside In, Inside Out in 2006 and have released a couple more albums since then but have been largely quiet due to a band reshuffle. They are back with a vengeance, however, with another catchy rock n roll track about somebody called Frankie (who knows?!?!) and a cleanly shot video that looks like it was at least partly inspired by the set from Tron. Stephen Marley ft. Sizzla & Capleton- “Rock Stone”
There’s no denying that Stephen Marley’s voice sounds every inch like that of his father Bob; the five time Grammy winner is back with a modern twist on a reggae sound, and unless we’re very much mistaken, the video features a fair amount of smoking up, a trait we are guessing is hereditary.
