Top Tv Tunes Of The Year

6. “Dark Paradise” – Lana Del Rey on The Originals

The Originals
is already far surpassing expectations, tonally, plot-wise and in terms of musical incorporation. Their recent usage of Lana Del Rey’s song “Dark Paradise” is spot on thematically. It perfect captures the mood of not only the scene in which Marcel is dancing with Camille and talking about Rebekah while Rebekah & Klaus watch them; and then it subsequently carries over to when Marcel gets the news about Thierry, but also the mood of the entire show. The ethereal composition and, well, overall darkness of the song captures the forlorn nature of our beautiful Originals and the setting of New Orleans like no other and makes it one of our top choices of the year.

5. “The Scientist” – Coldplay on Glee

While the tribute episodes to Glee arguably feature more emotionally wrenching songs, watching Finn perform The Scientist with his fellow Gleeks is equally touching in it’s own right. Watch the performance here.

4. “I Love It” by Icona Pop featured on Girls

After appearing on Girls Icona Pop’s song “I Love It” became a monster hit. Hannah dancing to the song at the nightclub party was amazing. It’s pretty much everything the show tries to capture about being in your 20s and figuring it out in New York. Check out Icona Pop’s music video of “I Love It”

3. “Open Your Eyes” – Andrew Belle on Degrassi

We had a major loss during the past season of Degrassi. At the end of “Honey” Adam doesn’t make it through his operation. Death is always tragic and Andrew Belle’s haunting song “Open Your Eyes” will stay with you long after the scene ends. RIP Adam Torres.

2. “Who You Are” – Jessie J on SYTYCD

So You Think You Can Dance is one of the most Award-decorated shows that has ever been on TV. Emmy’s too numerous to count have resulted from 10 seasons of combinations of beautiful songs with stunning choreography. Haley Erbert’s audition for the latest season of the show is no exception. Her beautiful modern lyrical set against Jessie J’s “Who You Are” is chill inducing, reminds why the song was such a hit when it first came out, and DEFINITELY worth another watch/listen.

1. “We Need To Be Loved” – Anthony Starble on Pretty Little Liars

Ahh the Brew. The hangout central to our PLL experience. Open mic night at The Brew in episode 4X6 of Pretty Little Liars did not disappoint. Anthony Starble gave an awe dropping performance during open mic night while Aria, Spencer & Emily talked at the Brew. The song is best experienced on it’s own without visual distraction so, please, enjoy.
