“I try to be as positive as I can be.” Noah Jay Wood talks about the importance of positivity and owning your journey as aspiring actor and content creator

Noah Jay Wood began posting consistently on TikTok in 2020, and has since risen to global fame with his entertaining and engaging skits and POVs for his 7.3 million followers on TikTok. We got to chat with Noah to learn more about his journey on social media, his favorite content to create, his favorite interactions with people online, and how he is using his fame to further his goal of becoming an actor.

Noah trained in theater at the University of Mississippi and has also taken classes at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. He said when the pandemic hit and he had to do theater classes online, he was introduced to the social media space where he started posting consistently and gained hundreds of thousands of followers in that first year. Noah has since found his place in the social media sphere and in addition to TikTok, he boasts over 567K followers on Instagram, and has almost 4 million subscribers on YouTube and is active in gaming on Twitch. Noah is currently based in Atlanta and is taking acting classes.

“My goal in terms of social media and growth is to be casted in something that everyone loves and my followers can watch me in.”

We asked Noah about the evolution of his social media content and he said he originally wanted to be a dancer and was posting dance videos on TikTok, but then began doing skits and POVs and storytelling through songs, which soon went viral.

“The more people are seeing your face, the more content you are putting out there, the more views and interactions you’re going to get.”

Noah said while he loves dressing up as other characters, he has also started doing more relatable content and showing his followers his personal life so people can get to know him for who he really is.

“I want people to get a chance to know me, rather than just know me as a certain character.”

Noah said as a social media content creator, hate comments are part of the job. But he has realized that he doesn’t need to feed into the hate and it is more important to focus on the positive feedback and impact he is having. Noah revealed he has had people DM him saying his content has made them laugh and even saved their life, and he hopes to continue to have a positive impact and be a role model for his followers.

“I’ve just learned that people are going to hate, but the more you grow and the more you make videos, positive things will outweigh the negative things.”

Noah said his ultimate goal is to become an actor, and he has used social media as a way to continue acting while he auditions for roles. Whether he is playing a werewolf or Spiderman, Noah said social media is a great outlet for expressing himself and providing people with an escape with his entertainment.

“You need people to provide entertainment too because it is an escape for some people and you can see that from some of the comments I’ve gotten.”

Consider this:

  1. Stay consistent with posting on social media. The more people that see your face and content on social media, the more you’ll be able to grow your following.
  2. The content you create or the work that you do matters. You can have an impact on someone simply by making them laugh.
  3. Don’t let hate get to you. Focus on the positive and try to block out the negativity.
