It would seem that casting news for Young Adult TV shows revolves around just a few hot and very in-demand names, and what a busy bunch they are! But because things change in showbiz faster than it takes Disney to fast-track something into production, the names on that list are changing all the time. So to that end, we here at YA Mag will undertake the hefty task of keeping you up to date on who’s playing what, who’s hot, and who’s not. The roles and stars in everyone can’t stop talking about are all here…

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff follows Peggy Carter as she navigates working in the male-dominated world of S.H.I.E.L.D. Cooper will reprise his role as Howard Stark, Tony’s father, from Captain America

The buzzed-about comedy, form CBS, focuses on Jane (played by Gina Rodriguez), a young, devout woman who discovers that she was somehow ‘accidentally’ artificially inseminated. Casciani will play Melissa De La Vega, a telenovela star.

nicholas-d'agosto-two-faceMasters of Sex actor Nicholas D’Agosto has been cast as Harvey Dent aka Two-Face on Gotham. Dent is the bright, idealistic Assistant District Attorney who makes it his mission to stop all crime in the city of Gotham, with horrifying results.

Drew Sidora, Jessy Hodges, and John Patrick Amedori are all now part of new show Hindsight. The time-jumping drama centers on Becca (Laura Ramsey), who, on the day of her wedding in present day, suddenly wakes up back in 1995. She is now faced with the opportunity to change the direction of her life and ‘do it right this time’.

IN DEVELOPMENT

big-tom-hanks-posterOMG, another reboot. This time, FOX is reworking 80s movie gem Big for the small screen. This project is just the latest example of film-to-TV adaptations of recent history: Fargo and About a Boy have also seen TV versions come on the air.

zach-braff-self-promotion-mtvMTV is developing Self Promotion, a dark comedy for which Zach Braff is directing the pilot. The show focuses on an overworked assistant whose tough boss goes missing, and how she begins to take over his role.

stitchers-abc-familyABC Family is bringing Stitchers to the air, a supernatural drama about a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be “stitched” into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave.
