Find My Own Way by The Black Cadillacs on Nashville

While Nashville’s tunes are predominantly made of the cast singing (it is a show about singers, after all) sometimes they outsource. The use of The Black Cadillacs in the first episode after the midseason hiatus is an example of that outsourcing, to great success. Find My Own Way is played when Gunnar goes to Last Time Around to find Jason’s killers, but Deacon and Scarlett stop him. The gritty, almost metallic defiant cry is a perfect pump up tune for Gunnar to try for vengeance.

Psycho KillerThe Talking Heads on The Vampire Diaries

What better tune than The Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer to underscore a brutal vampire kill. In Season 4 Episode 17 “Because the Night” the song is played as one random pedestrian realizes his life will soon end. It’s creepy but has that same tongue in cheek tone the show loves to flirt with.

Winter CoatsWindmill on Degrassi
What better to underscore a romantic moment than a song resplendent with soft electro-chiming and atmospheric haze. Winter Coats by Windmill is the perfect mood setter in the recent Degrassi episode “Karma Police Part 2” when Dallas tries to impress Alli by stringing Christmas lights for her. Take a listen and get swept away. (Youtube video the song starts at 6:00 minutes)

Transcend by Steve Aoki ft. Rune RK on Arrow

Arrow is a totally high-octane, adrenaline filled rush to watch. It makes sense that Steve Aoki’s equally high-octane song, Transcend, was used in both the promo for the “Huntress Returns” and in some of the more exciting action sequences in the episode. Strap in and get ready for the ride.
