The Throw by Jagwar Ma – Beauty and the Beast Ep 10 Season 2
This song has a trippy disco vibe and a punchy bassline. It’s a perfect choice for the out there episode from January 20th where Vincent finally revealed he’s still alive on national television. Jagwar Ma are an Ozzy band who formed in 2011 and we think they’ll go far!
Slave to Love by Bryan Ferry – The Carrie Diaries, Season 2 Episode 3
This 1980’s crooner might be more well known to your parents than to you, but the inclusion of this song tugged on our heartstrings as Carrie and Sebastian kiss and make up, but ultimately break up after his betrayal.
We Are Broken by This, the Silent War – The Fosters, Season 1 Episode 12
This is emo indie rock at its finest. Heartfelt lyrics and the soothing vocals of LA native Adrianne Gonzalez are the perfect closing for an episode that saw foster siblings Callie and Brandon confronting their romantic feelings for one another.
Operating by Hunter Hunted – Pretty Little Liars, Season 4 Episode 16
This song is playing as Hanna and Travis mess around and play pool before Hanna goes in for a smooch. Although this is one of the slower and more pensive tracks on their self titled album, the majority consists of sweet uptempo guitar riffs and chipper harmonized vocals. They’re playing high profile events such as The Governor’s Ball and SXSW this year, and after their inclusion in PLL, we have a feeling that well deserved success is coming their way.
If I Had a Heart by Fever Ray – The Originals, Season 1, Episode 11
This is the song that features over the scene of resurrected witches who are wandering the streets of New Orleans after Sabine (or Celeste as she’s now known) has been up to mischief. We think this is a really interesting, moody tune that works perfectly with the portentous feeling of the episode.
Hang on 2 Your Love by Sam Sparro – The Tomorrow People, Season 1, Episode 9
Sam Sparro has been doing the rounds since his break out hit Black and Gold broke in 2008, and this catchy house tune came from his 2013 EP entitled Quantum Physical. It’s perfect party music, and is played during the scene where Stephen hosts a get together for both sets of his friends.
Look Away by Lo Fang – Ravenswood, Season 1, Episode 8
This is the tune from the beginning of the episode; it’s got a great beat and Lo-Fang thrills us with these haunting vocals. Watch out for this Maryland native opening for rising star and Grammy nominee Lorde on her US tour later this year.
